Apple’s support for legacy applications going down the drain

Thursday, April 17th, 2008, by moose

The terrible news came this morning through Apple’s Kbase RSS feed:
Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard does not include support for iPhoto 2.

Oh my! I so liked the way you could go for a cup of coffee while iPhoto2 tried to scroll through the couple thousands 2 megapixel images I had in my Library.

The Joy of Tech takes on iPhone 3G

Wednesday, April 16th, 2008, by moose

As always, the JoT is spot on about the various expectations for a 3G iPhone.
The Joy of Tech comic… laughter is the best tech support.

All I can say is I have been using an iPhone for a few month, and I don’t really miss 3G. I had a 3G SOny Ericsson phone before, and I [...]

Ever wondered where the Dashboard layer goes when it moves up?

Tuesday, April 15th, 2008, by moose

Hmm, you know Dashboard, when you click that “+” icon at the botom left, it moves the whole black layer up, “pushed” by the aluminum strip which allows you to choose what widgets you want to add?
Well, have you ever wondered where the upper part of the Dashboard layer goes? Yeah right me too…
And here [...]

Test your font knowledge NOW!

Tuesday, April 15th, 2008, by moose

Here’s an interesting “quizz”:
The Rather Difficult Font Game

Basically, you have to try and guess the name of the fonts used. There are some timeless classics, but I barely managed to score 24/34, some of the fonts names I had never heard before…

Wednesday, April 9th, 2008, by moose

First Pictures of Nokia Tube iPhone Killer, Allegedly:

You know what? everytime I read something along the line of “[insert successful Apple product name here]-killer”, I can’t help but laugh…
How many iPod-killers were we presented? How many iTunes Store-killers services announced?
And now, how many iPhone-killers? Well, we can only wish Apple that this one succeeds as [...]

iPhone vs chinaPhone: the showdown

Wednesday, April 9th, 2008, by moose

Parody or is she for real? It’s up to you to decide…

p.s.: I think even with her huge nails, she could probably use the tip of her fingers anyway… And you’ll just love the track playing in the media player of the fake iPhone…
p.p.s.: she admits to “hating Apple products owners, but then behing her [...]

Quake3 on iTouch

Monday, April 7th, 2008, by moose

Well, hot on the heels of my post about a middleware provider porting its 3D engine to the iPhone/iPod touch platform (let’s call it iTouch), here’s a funky homebrew port of Quake3 to the iTouch.
Not that it seems the best way to play Quake to have to tilt the whole screen to move around, but [...]

Monday, April 7th, 2008, by moose

The Escapist : Unity Engine Ported to iPhone:
Unity Technologies, a 3-D middleware provider that specializes in improving graphics for web games, will bring its core product, the Unity engine, which powers titles in places such as Shockwave.com, to the iPhone platform.
So, it does seem that game companies are taking the iPhone seriously, at least for [...]
