Got an XBOX360? 16.4% chances that you are gonna be sorry.

Xbox 360 console failure rate forecast at 16.4% | Reg Hardware:
“Your Xbox 360 has a 16.4 per cent chance of breaking down, according to an analysis of the Microsoft console’s failure rates by an electronics warranty trading firm.”

Wow, this is pretty bad as far as reliability goes. Apparently, this is related to overheating in early generations systems, and the company who did this study says that the rate should go up as consoles age.
You have to remember that last year, the public outcry was so bad that M$ had to extend the warranty on all 360s to THREE years.
And when Apple has some production problems on revA products, people complain?

I’ve been part of the masses out-crying at the faulty iBook G4 for years. I did exactly what they wanted, upgraded to a MacBook Pro paid for Applecare and love my new computer. But since my old one died 19 months after new, with no Applecare I was weary of spending $1,000CAD on a new logic board and bought new with a few years of comfort. If only Apple would announce a recall, as they did with the iBook G3. I have this great little mobile computer sitting there waiting to go. I guess I could ebay a new logic board for $400 and install it myself… but how can you be sure they work really?
I’ve done everything to make this computer work, replacing every cheap part that could be faulty and still no dice. When i hear my new computers fan start whining loudly I get worried. If only I could be sure that it would be as bullet proof as Macs are supposed to be (comparatively speaking)

I’m on my THIRD 360. Thank goodness I bought the Best Buy retailer replacement warranty after the first one died a week after I bought it.

Yeah I was hit by the “faulty iBook G3 mobo” problem too… although Apple repaired it 3 times (and it was after the waranty expired) and it died again each time, so in the end they swapped it for a new iBook, which was a G4 at that time :-)
So I have nothing to complain about…
