iPhone most popular cameraphone on flickr

So, even if the iPhone’s camera is not exactly the best around, it seems it’s widly popular, as can be seen in flickr’s camera stats:

I can’t say I use the iPhone a lot for shooting pictures (appart from the occasional family shot or for taking a picture of my parking space number at the airport, so I won’t spend 1hr looking for my car when I fly back…), since I’m the happy owner of a Nikon D80 DSLR, which is a really nice camera (check my flickr stream) but I can definitely see why the iPhone would be so popular.

With the unlimited data plan and 24/7/365 EDGE connection, it’s really easy to snap a picture then email it to your flickr account. And you can say what you want, but EDGE is alright for most uses… In April I went to the Aiguille du Midi near Chamonix, France. That’s 3842m high for you, and I was able to take a picture of the amazing scenery, then email it to a bunch of people right from up there!

So, yeah, I can definitely see why the iPhone rules flickr’s cameraphone stats.
