One more thing, I do think it is wrong that companies in Asia that have very relaxed laws, none existent even, protecting intellectual property. I am personally affected by Redberries (Chinese Blackberry knock-offs) and am sick when I see tech developed elsewhere go to China for production and they seal the ideas and manufacture them, such as cars and iPhone (this is my way to tie it back to the Apple topic its supposed to be)

I am so sick of patent filings. They are a biproduct of the American business directive and have fucked the world over. Having said that I do think we need to protect our intellectual rights, but the process of this being done is insane. I think if should go to something like this. You file your intellectual rights idea. Then you have a few years to bring it to fruition, say 1-4 for functional ideas, and 5-8 for abstract ideas. This distinction would made when you file, saying that you think it is not possible wtit today's tech, an abstract idea patent would not be made public for 5 years, so as to protect you in developing your process. A functional idea would be protected for a few years and can be achieved with current tech, you are just forced to figure out how. Another think that would be necessary is the ability to as for an extension, but this would be a reviewed process and would rely on you proving a reason for the delay of your idea.

This way we can get rid of the trolls, who have screwed companies like RIM and others, and get on with advancements, think all the battery techs and power designs buried by big oil money.

In no way am I a conspiracy theorist, but I know that this happens.
We could be a more advanced civ, wiht better use of ideas, energy and less pollution if only there was a will. A will not for money, but progress.

What do I know, I'm just an idealist Political Scientist/ aspiring Lawyer
