The Escapist : Unity Engine Ported to iPhone:

Unity Technologies, a 3-D middleware provider that specializes in improving graphics for web games, will bring its core product, the Unity engine, which powers titles in places such as Shockwave.com, to the iPhone platform.

So, it does seem that game companies are taking the iPhone seriously, at least for casual gaming. If you remember, I posted a while ago about the iPhone as a portable gaming platform, and it seems it really is going that way.
Let’s just hope we’ll get better stuff than the current crop of iPod games.
