WARNING: iPhone can seriously damage your physical integrity
by moose
So it happened this afternoon that I had my iPhone in my jeans front pocket and dug in to take it out.
OUCH!
I took out my hand and one of my fingers had a really nice and bloody crescent-shaped cut. It was actually bleedin quite a lot, not like great spurts of blood but still.
So, what went wrong? Well, my iPhone was in my pocket vertically and when I went for it the tip of my finger went straight in the audio connector. And if you look closely, this connector is recessed and surrounded by sharp metal. So I cut my fingertip…

Lesson learned? Always put your iPhone in your pocket UPSIDE DOWN.
P.S.: at least, the blood did not trigger the iPhone’s humidity detector which ils located at the bottom of said audio connector ;-)
P.P.S.: do you think I should sue Apple? Everybody seems to be doing it, so maybe…

In order to sympathise but more importantly, empathise with you I,ve just tried to stick my finger in the audio connecter and/or try to cut myself but to no avail. Try as hard as I could, I couldn’t do it.
I must therefore conclude that: you have the fingers of a three year old AND that your phone was not properly finished off and has sharp edges — in that case, you should definitely sue Apple.
Alternatively, buy a Belkin full leather clad skin which prevents you from injuring yourself.
Get well soon.

Well, my fingers are regular-sized thank you very much ;-)
Actually, the headphone jack hole DOES have quite sharp edges, so maybe it’s a manufacturing defect, I’ll check if I happen to put my hands on another iPhone…

I would ask Apple what to do, and if they had a better idea than to sue them. I´m sure that will provocate an interesting answer… ;-)
