Aperture 2.0: All The Video Tutorial Links In One Place

Sunday, February 24th, 2008, by moose

Steve Weller, developer of utilities for (and writer of a book on) Aperture, over at Bagelturf, compiled a nifty list of direct links to the great Aperture 2 tutorials offered by Apple on their website. So, instead of using their shiny and good looking, but sometimes a bit erratic, Ajax player, you can batch download [...]

Aperture 2.0 on speed: Quick Preview

Thursday, February 21st, 2008, by moose

As I wrote a few days ago, I acquired Aperture 2.0 the day it was released, and have been happily playing with it since. I’m compiling material for a more comprehensive review, but here’s a quick pick: QUICK PREVIEW mode rocks. Totally.

Simply hit the icon or the “P” key and off you go, browsing through [...]

Wednesday, February 20th, 2008, by moose

James Duncan Davidson > Aperture 2.0 Quick Impressions:
“It’s now been just over a week since Aperture 2 showed up and I’ve been poking about all of its corners and learning what it has in store. Along the way, I’ve been keeping some notes. Here they are in a rather loosely structured form. Obviously, since I’ve [...]

Aperture 2 sports an image processing plugin architecture

Wednesday, February 13th, 2008, by moose

A couple days ago I posted about major changes to RAW support and concluded by this:
That seems weird, unless you consider a system that would work as “plugins” for RAW files, allowing to easily add/update support for RAW formats, maybe even choose which RAW decoder you want to use in Aperture.
Well, looks like [...]

Tuesday, February 12th, 2008, by moose

I just saw that on my iPhone (and yes, the Apple website is quite usable on an iPhone using EDGE), Aperture 2.0 is out and the list of “100+ new features” makes apparent that Apple has been listening to users.
Check it out.
My favorites at first glance are:

All-in-one Inspector and HUD
Metadata entry shortcut
All Projects view
Broad [...]

So the 10.5.2 Leopard update is out and… it brings a number of changes, including
RAW Image
Adds RAW image support for several cameras, as detailed in this article.
Said article states that the Nikon D3 and D300, amongst others, are now supported. Now that is good news for people who bought the latest Nikon [...]

Enlarge Your Telephoto Now! or what happens when you believe in spam

Wednesday, February 6th, 2008, by moose

B&H Photo Video Pro Audio- The Mother of all Telephotos:
“‘Lord G-d’ has also been exclaimed by those seeing a Canon 1200/5.6L USM for the first time. At 36lbs, 33′ long and 9′ wide at the front element, calling this lens a ‘tele’ is like calling King Kong a monkey.”
Now this is some serious telephoto lens: [...]
